We constructively investigate the bidirectional influence between the structure of subjective experience — emotion and qualia — and the emergence of language among populations of agents. Using the framework of symbol-emergence systems, we explore through computational models how internal emotion/qualia structures shape language, and how shared language in turn reshapes individual experiential structures.
