As part of NEDO’s “Project for R&D on Next-Generation AI Coevolving with Humans,” we conducted research on endowing autonomous interaction AIs with explainability and applying them to child-rearing and developmental support. By having robots convey the rationale behind their actions and their internal states to users, we aimed to enable long-term engagement built on reassurance and trust.

I took over this project as PI in January 2024 and was in charge through March 2025.
