On July 11, 2026, I gave a talk titled “When Purpose Emerges from Interaction: Perspectives from Robotics and Computational Models toward a Semiotics of Life and Purpose” in the first session, “Semiotics of Life and Purpose,” at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Semiotic Studies, held at the Kudan Campus of Nishogakusha University.
Drawing on cognitive developmental robotics and symbol emergence in robotics, the talk explored how “purpose” and “symbols” arise within the interaction among body, others, and environment, from the perspectives of Collective Predictive Coding (CPC) and allostasis.
